Generation Next (Generation, Yeah)

Kemaren entah kenapa gw pengen denger lagu2 bule lama, dan gw inget bahwa gw masih nyimpen CD2 Spice Girls (hasil ngorek2 gudang 1-2 tahun lalu).

Ternyata yang ada cuma Spice Girls The Greatest Hits, padahal gw lebih kepengen dengerin lagu2 yang bukan single! Kalopun ada yang Spiceworld, malah cuma tinggal kotaknya... Gw inget, nggak berapa lama setelah nemuin CD itu dari gudang, kakak gw malah minjemin ke sepupu gw. Dan nggak dibalik2in lagi.

Karena kangen, gw hari ini seharian berburu free MP3 Spiceworld. Susah banget karena gw nggak tau teknologi search di 4shared.com tapi untung akhirnya dapet semua, Never Give Up On The Good Times, Do It, Denying, The Lady Is A Vamp....

Cuma kurang satu: SATURDAY NIGHT DIVAS! Gw inget lagunya, dan kayaknya gw nggak suka2 banget, biasa aja. Tapi kan tanggung, orang lagi pengen nostalgia begini! Kesel.

So please oh pleaaasee, anyone, if there's any of you by any chance (secara itu album sekitar 11 tahun lalu) have the song. buzz me!!! :(

Talking about Spice Girls, I think they're the coolest female group ever. Gw suka karena kakak gw dan geng sepupu2nya yang seumuran juga suka, sehingga gw teracuni. Biar mereka udah bubar, jaman udah maju, udah ada Girls Aloud lah, Danity Kane lah, Pussycat Dolls lah, apalah, tapi tetep nggak ada yang sebooming dan sefenomenal Spice Girls.

Gw berusaha merinci kenapa sosok mereka begitu terkenang dan terus2an tercap keren di kepala gw:

1. They travelled around Europe with their big Union Jack-patterned double decker-look alike private bus (setidaknya begitulah yang terpampang di film Spiceworld: The Movie yang juga gw temukan di gudang meskipun VCD-nya bajakan dan udah baret2)

2. They created the "Girl Power" slogan

3. They rebranded Britain's image into "Cool Britannia" along with Geri's famous Union Jack dress and platforms

4. They wore platforms and Buffalo sneakers! (except Vic and Mel C) Love it!

5. They were the icon of the 90's - they made the decade rocks!

6. They were the one and only group given nicknames by the media: Scary, Ginger, Posh, Baby, Sporty

7. They're made into wax statues for Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum

8. They made their own movie! And it was funny and entertaining, not to mention The Beatles' dull A Hard Day's Night...

9. They met Prince Charles and Geri kissed him!

10. They're the only female group who I think has different characters for each members. Kalo kayak Pussycat Dolls gitu kan seragaman, trus kesannya sama rata semua (baca: bitchy2 gitchuw deh)

11. Their music is still good to hear until now! Backstreet Boys yang gw juga suka aja, gw kadang2 masih ngerasa aransemennya rada norak dan membatin "Dasar musik 90-an".

12. I still remember every video clips of them!

13. And I still remember how they starred in Pepsi commercial video with Move Over song!

14. The fact that now I have a big interest on platform shoes (especially Buffalo sneakers), Union Jack patterns, admire red hair and long straight blonde hair... I believe is also because of their influences. (kakak gw pernah bilang "Aku dulu suka Posh, kamu mah sukanya Baby Spice!" dan itu terbukti... gw paling suka ngeliat Emma dan Geri)

15. There is no and will never be other female groups who can do greater than 14 things I mentioned above, and able to make influences -in an era, in their own country, in music industry, in the world, and on me- bigger and better than Spice Girls!

That's all in the past, legends built to last
But she's got something new
She's a power girl in the 90's world
